Constitution-Oriented Discourse
Constitution-Oriented Discourse on the 100th Anniversary of Afghanistan's Independence by the Independent Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution was held in cooperation in Herat University Presidency. There were several participants in the event, including Dr. Mohammad Qasem Hashemzai, Chairman of the Independent Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution and their accompanying delegation, Dr. Dawood Hashmi Deputy Dr. Abdullah Faiz, Chancellor of Herat University, Dr. Abdul Rafi Heravi, Vice Presidents, Heads of Government Departments, Civil Society, Professors, and Students. The principal purpose of the event was to promote the Afghan constitution and create awareness about it. The event took place at Herat University’s Agriculture Conference Hall. First, Dr. Abdullah Faiz, chancellor of Herat University, called the constitution of adopted in 2003 as one of the best in Afghanistan’s recent history, which unfortunately has encounterd challenges, such as insecurity and lack of awareness.
Chancellor of Herat University stated that in order to have a stable and lawful society, awareness of the constitution on the rights of the people on the government and the rights of the state on the people is of particular importance. Moreover, he said that not only creating constitutional awareness is the task of particular bodies, but it is also the responsibility of each individual in the community, especially the Ministries of Education and Higher Education, which are responsible for the education of adolescents and youth.
Subsequently, Dr. Mohammad Qasem Hashemzai, Chairman of the Independent Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution provided information to attendees during a presentation on various constitutional provisions.
Dr. Ghulam Davood Hashemi, Herat's deputy provincial governor, also spoke about the importance of the constitution, calling for the growth and development of societies to be based on the constitution and demanded that the constitution be unified and implemented equally in society by government bodies.
Then, Dr. Abdul Rashid Heravi called the constitution a national guarantee that assures the freedoms and rights of all citizens.
Finally, the questions of the attendees were answered by the officials of the Independent Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution.
