English Language and Literature Department

The English Department was established in 1997, but has officially begun its work since 1998. This department is the second department of the Faculty of Literature and the first department of foreign languages at Herat University. The department's night shift has been operating since 2013.

Objectives: The main mission of the Department of English Language and Literature is to provide students with the appropriate educational background in the field of English including literature, translation, linguistics and language teaching, so that English language education is tailored to the needs of the Afghan community and the region based on global criteria.

Present number of students

Currently in 2019, about 248 students are studying at this department among these students 76 are male and 172 are female.
