Department of Criminal Law

 This department was recently established in 2014 by Ministry of Higher Education within the framework of the Faculty of Law and Political Science. Crime and felony are considered as disruptive phenomena of social order. In order to prevent the occurrence of crimes and to implement the legal sanctions of committed criminal actions, the legislator has established the rules. This field of law, identifies crimes and punishments at national and international levels to law students, and students, with these skills, can carry out professional works in institutions such as the Prosecutor’s Office, courts, lawyer’s offices, and other relevant departments. This department has (5) members of the scientific staff.

Scientific objectives

  • Develop and standardize the curriculum to meet the educational needs and demands of students of criminal law
  • Improving the quality of teaching and research by active participation of professors and students in the process of legal and professional knowledge production and by considering the needs of Afghan society.
  • Increasing the access to justice.
  • Participation in the system of crediting and quality assurance in order to ensure the Study-Research quality and the usefulness of the relevant programs of criminal law department
  • Provide scientific-legal research opportunities for the advancement of knowledge and the application of legal issues.
  • Implementing the bill of credit system.
  • Co-operation to ensure the implementation of the rule of law culture and provide necessary and practical advice to relevant judicial and legal entities.
  • Creating an academic atmosphere in which debate and Idea sharing, critical questioning and constructive criticism are common and accepted criteria.
  • Educating students as open minded, responsible and critic citizens, with the the necessary capacity and ideas based on social commitment, tolerance and mutual respect.
