Department of Private Law

This department has been recently established in 2012 under the auspices of Herat University and Minfieldistry of Higher Education. Private Law is considered as one of the most fundamental s of law. In this field students will be familiar with the rules governing the relationship of individuals among themselves (personal status, business law, company and partnerships, transactions, banking, conflict resolution, etc.). This department has appointed 7 professors.

Sceintific objectives

  • Active participation in the process of producing legal knowledge by participating in the training of experts and knowledgeable cadres on Afghan daily issues;
  • improving knowledge of professors' by sending them to complete short term and long term programs (master's degree and Ph.D.);
  • To institutionalize the implementation of the credit system in order to provide educational facilities for professors and students, and thereby enhance their professional knowledge;
  • Standardize curriculum based on the needs of the Afghan community and according to international standards;
  • Collaborating on expanding legal clinical practices to apply legal science and making students aware of the legal challenges facing the community;
  • Conducting seminars, conferences, and workshops in the field of private law (personal status, transactions, trade and dispute resolution) to improve the level of knowledge of faculty and staff;
  • Efforts to set up and implement scientific research projects by professors and students in order to challenge the legal issues in the community and provide legal solutions in this field;
  • Contributing to the promotion of the rule of law through participation in legal awareness programs, capacity building and advisory services to relevant institutions.
