Toufiq Sarwarzada Academic Vice Chancellor
Toufiq has been a faculty member at English Department of Herat University since 2004. Besides teaching, he has worked as head of English department and Associate Dean of Faculty of Letters. Currently Toufiq serves as Director of Faculty Affairs and Acting Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Toufiq was born in 1978 and did his primary and high school education in Natural Sciences in Mirza High school in Iran. He graduated from Ferdowsi University of Mashad, where he completed his undergraduate studies in English. From 2004 to 2008, he lectured in English Literature at Herat University. He then pursued graduate studies through Fulbright scholarship at Clark University and earned an MA in English.
Besides working with higher education ministry, Toufiq has worked in different teacher training programs including British Council Connecting Classroom and Herat Education Department trainings for high school English teachers. His research includes developing materials for English for Specific Purposes subjects. He has edited seven ESP textbooks for Herat University.
Toufiq is married and has two children. His interests include literature and education. He enjoys spending time with family and playing sports.
